Autumn in Sydney
ساعت ٧:٤٠ ‎ق.ظ روز ۱۳٩٠/۱۱/۳٠  کلمات کلیدی:

Summer in Sydney is almost finished but there is still a lot of warm weather ahead as the seasons change.  Autumn will bring cool evenings and gradually some of the leaves will turn red and gold before falling to make carpets on the lawns of parks and gardens.  The days will be sunny and clear and many people will begin playing winter sports.  In Sydney it seldom gets cold enough to wear a coat and scarves are simply a fshion statement and not necessary.  By June the snow will begin falling on the mountains six hours south of Sydney by road and the ski resorts will be popular.  Winter in Sydney and most of eastern Australia is very mild and warm compared to Tehran - you only need a small amount of warm clothes, mostly for the evening.  There can be some frosty mornings in July, but the sun soon melts the frost and the rest of the day is pleasant.  Perhaps you even need to wear sunscreen!

BLUE LAGOON
ساعت ۱٠:۱۸ ‎ق.ظ روز ۱۳٩٠/۸/۱٠  کلمات کلیدی:

Blue Lagoon is a beach resort located about one hour’s drive north of Sydney on the Central Coast of New South Wales, one of Australia’s most popular seaside districts.  The resort is a perfect place for families in the holiday season and also provides a romantic escape for couples during the cooler months.

The nearby beaches offer a full range of possibilities.  The docile waters of Blue Lagoon itself attract less adventurous surfers and those who enjoy snorkelling.  A short distance north – five minutes walk along golden sands – there is the pounding surf of Shelley Beach with its obvious advantages for accomplished board riders and swimmers who enjoy a challenge.  To the south is Bateau Bay with its rock pools and gently rolling waves.  The entire area is also favoured by fishermen  For the less energetic, it can be enjoyable to simply walk on the beach and explore the magnificent rock formations and the tiny sea creatures that live amongst them..

The accommodation at Blue Lagoon comprises fully-equipped cabins as well as camping sites for caravans and tents.  The best of the cabins are right on the beach from with uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean.  The surrounding bushland is home to several varieties of birds seldom seen in the city any more.

A few minutes drive away there is a major shopping centre at Bateau Bay and also close is the resort town of The Entrance, with its restaurants and old-time cinema.  At Gosford, just to the south, there are sailing facilities and a major sporting stadium which hosts national football league matches as well as rugby.

The drive north from Sydney is mostly freeway, along the picturesque F3, which was built by cutting the road through massive sandstone hills.  Trains also run frequently between Sydney and Gosford for those who prefer not to drive.

CRCULAR QUAY
ساعت ۱٢:٥٧ ‎ق.ظ روز ۱۳٩٠/٧/۱٠  کلمات کلیدی:

Sandwiched between Sydney’s famous Harbour bridge and the majestic Opera House, is a small cove that houses a series of ferry wharves, a busy expressway and a railway station.  Once known as Sydney Cove, Circular Quay is now a bustling transport hub on the northern edge of Sydney’s central business district.
The main business of the Quay concerns the ferry services which run to the north, east and west. The old green and gold vessels take commuters to the fashionable suburbs of the lower north shore. Newer and faster rivercats provide access to the more affordable housing along the Parramatta River.
Harbour cruises also start at the wharves, as well water taxi services.  Visitors can enjoy a sumptuous meal and a glass of wine while they cruise the spectacular waterways that make up one of the world’s finest harbours.
However, for just a few dollars, the budget conscious visitor can enjoy all the harbour cruises have to offer by taking the commuter ferry to Manly.  These unique crafts glide past the suburb of Kirribilli, where the Prime Minister’s Sydney residence is located.  Then they turn to take in Neutral Bay, Cremorne and Mosman.  They cross the harbour opening, where the waves can often toss boats by just enough to produce a few thrills.  Finally, the ferries coast into the calmer waters of Manly Cove.  On a sunny day, it can be a magic journey.

GREAT BARRIER REEF
ساعت ٢:٤٥ ‎ق.ظ روز ۱۳٩٠/٦/٢٧  کلمات کلیدی:

This is one of the best places to see when you are in Australia!

Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is located in the Coral Sea, just off the tropical coast of the state of Queensland.  The Reef is home to millions of species of fish and other creatures of the ocean.  However, it is the structures formed by the coral that draw most visitors to the area.

The Reef can be accessed via flights from all of Australia’s major cities.  It only takes a couple of hours or so to fly there from Sydney.  Most tourists choose to stay at one of the many resorts on the islands that border the Reef.  They range from small and intimate luxury hotels to larger resorts with several standards of accommodation, including facilities for those on a tight budget.

Boat trips to the Reef itself run regularly.  Visitors are encouraged to snorkel in the warm water so they can get a close-up view of the magnificent coral and the colourful fish that swim through its towers and tunnels.  For the more adventurous, deeper diving escapades are readily available.  Inexperienced participants can even take classes to ensure they can manage the sophisticated skin diving equipment involved.

Apart from the natural beauty of the Reef, the resort islands themselves offer many pleasures.  Beaches with pure white sand and turquoise waters are perfect for lazing around and taking a well earned rest.  Restaurants and bars cater for most tastes and many become fine entertainment venues with live music and dancing once the warm sun disappears and night falls.

KATOOMBA
ساعت ۱٠:٥٢ ‎ق.ظ روز ۱۳٩٠/٥/٢٦  کلمات کلیدی:

Hi everyone, this is Ashie again, I have chosen to write about Katoomba today.

Katoomba is the largest town in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.  It is about a two hour drive from the city, mostly by motorway, and the road offers some lovely views back towards the coast.  The Blue Mountains are really large hills but they offer a completely different atmosphere to the suburbs of Sydney.  Katoomba is often very cold in the winter and the summer nights are pleasantly cool.  Occasionally there is snow in the colder months in the middle of the year.

Visitors to the Mountains are rewarded with spectacular views of deep valleys and sandstone cliffs that reflect the sunlight.  At Echo Point, small children shout and hear their voice bounce back of the faces of the cliffs across a thickly wooded valley.  Also from Echo Point one can gaze on the unique structure of the Three Sisters before making the short walk to the Sisters themselves.

Katoomba and the other Blue Mountains towns have some superb restaurants and tea rooms, as well as art galleries and lots of specialty shops.  The sweets shop at Leura is everyone’s favourite.  Katoomba also houses fine hotels ranging from the modern luxury of Lilianfels to the old world grandeur of the Carrington.  There is also a camping ground and plenty of facilities for backpackers.  During the summer, the town is full of bushwalkers eager to visit the valley trails and scale the pathways that wind around the cliffs.

It’s a great place to visit at any time of the year!

Ashie

Recently I went to Jervis Bay, which is three hours' drive south of Sydney on a pretty part of the coast.  The Bay is huge and so sheltered that it is home to dolphins and, sometimes, whales.  The sands of the beaches are pure white and dazzling in the sunlight.  The waters are turquoise at the edge and a deeper blue towards the horizon.  A walk along the white sands with your feet in the cool water is a perfect way to end an afternoon of dolphin watching.  The boats that take you out to see the dolphins are either fast or slow - depending on your preference - we chose the fast one and saw so many dolphins that we lost count of them.  They swam under the boat and surfed in the waves created by the boat's momentum.  So beautiful - it was as if they wanted to see us!     When the sun went  down the sky was full of stars and the restuarants offered every variety of food.  The next day we wore snorkels, masks and flippers so we could view the small fish and rock formations under the water nearby a wonderful beach.  It was my first time snorkelling and I hope to do much, much more because it was so enjoyable

This is one of the great adventures you can enjoy near Sydney and it is only one of many.  There is much more and I will be writing about them soon.

Love from Ashie from Sydney.
